March 29, 2020

Today we have made, with heavy hearts, the difficult decision to postpone the 59th Annual Salinas Fiesta for the health and safety of our officers, members and guests. The fiesta which was scheduled to take place on May 23-24, 2020 has been postponed indefinitely, until further notice. This is due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We would like to sincerely thank the nine novena host families, who so willingly and graciously continue the tradition of praying the rosary for nine consecutive Saturdays. We are forever grateful for your dedication and devotion to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.

Like the falcon, with God’s help and blessing we will rise again and continue this grand Fiesta tradition.

We place our trust in God for a cure for COVID-19 and give HIM all the Glory, Praise and Honor for all that he has Done.

Mama Mary, we thank you for your continued guidance and we forever lift you up in prayer.

We will provide you with further instructions under separate cover, if you opt for a refund for raffle tickets payments, souvenir program payments and fiesta donations.

MAY GOD BE WITH US ALL!

Respectfully,

President Nhel Conde
Board of Advisers
Executive Officers

Dear fellow Salinians and friends,

We the officers of the Salinas Association of San Diego, CA Inc., regret to inform you that because of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) the weekly novenas will be prayed in person only by each host family.

Everyone else is invited to pray the Rosary from within the confines of their own homes. If you would like to pray the rosary  with other members it will be live stream at 5:00 PM weekly via Facebook Live on the Salinas Association group page.

Our goal is to keep everyone safe. So again, please DO NOT go to the home of the host family starting Saturday March 21, 2020 and every Saturday thereafter. If the situation changes, we will notify you.

We appreciate your support and  thank you for your understanding. We look forward to the time when
we can meet safely in person again.

Please continue to pray for a cure for COVID-19.

Please pass this important message to others who may not have access to Facebook or the Salinas website.

Sincerely,

Nhel Conde

A meeting was held on March 14, 2020 at the home of Secretary, Grace Reyes Manalo, with the members of The Board of Advisers and The Executive Officers.

The main agenda was the discussion as to how to move forward concerning the upcoming 59th Fiesta based on the current environment with COVID-19.

Although, we the Officers of the Salinas Association of San Diego CA Inc., have an unwavering devotion to  Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary, we also have a responsibility to ensure the safety and health of our officers, members and guests.

With this in mind and in our current COVID-19 environment, a vote was taken as to whether to proceed with plans as normal to host the 59th Annual Fiesta in May, 2020 or postpone it to another time.

A vote was taken and it was unanimous, 17 people voted that the Fiesta should be postponed. However, there was one person who disagreed. In an effort to ensure that everyone’s opinion was heard, President Nhel Conde offered a suggestion that a decision not be made until April 2, 2020. Everyone present agreed.

The determining factor will be the status of COVID-19, at that time and whether or not it is safe to proceed as normal.

It is our hope that we can proceed as normal. However, as an organization we have an obligation to be responsible to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved.

After April 2, 2020 when a decision has been made, the members will be notified via US Mail,  Facebook and the Salinas website of the status.

In addition, please discontinue selling the Fiesta raffle tickets until further notice.

Should we have to postpone the Fiesta, an option will be given to anyone who donated or bought raffle tickets if they would like to have their donations or payments refunded.

Thank you for understanding and please wait for further announcements.

Sincerely,

Nhel Conde
